code reader 2

Hey ya'll. This being my first post here, I will enlighten you to my situation. Well, I have just bought a 1991 F-250 HD XLT Lariat for my son. The truck has seen michigan winters but looks pretty good considering. It has the 5.8 351W, Borg warner xfer case. I would like to know what would be a good, semi-cheap code reader for the check engine light. It does have some problems starting and staying running while its cold. Also, How do I identify which rearend I have, And which rear hubs> I bought the Hayes manual but can't quite seem to figure it out.

Thanks ahead of time,
George

PS. How do I add photos?

You don't need a reader. Click here to learn how without one. All I use is a test light and a jumper wire. You simply count the flashes to determine the code.

To find out what rear you have, look at the sticker on the drivers door. There is a code. Click here to find out what axle it is.

As far as the hubs, sorry I don't know that one.
