clutch squeal
i have a 99 explorer 4.0L ohv with the 5 speed manual transmission 75k on the odometer, and sometimes when i go to start out from a stop, as i'm releasing the clutch it makes a squealing noise, but after i get moving it sometimes does the samething after i shift to second, sometimes it doesn't. any ideas?

I had the same promblem but on a 92 explorer 5 speed, when i was stopped and kept my foot on the clutch you hear the noise, when am lifting my foot off you hear the noise, pretty much i was hearing it when ever i would put my foot on the clutch, my barings were shot, so i had the whole tranny taken out new clutch barings and they machiened the fly wheel no noise works great. It will help if you know someone i know for the parts alone on mine was 300, then labor, may be more for the newer X's hope this helped let me know how you make out

I was wondering if the original poster (bexplorer99) solved his problem and could he post a followup here?
I have a 5spd 97 explorer and identical symptoms developed last week, however the clutch was replaced and the flywheel resurfaced just 6 weeks ago.
