Im looking for guidance with spacing for my widow maker centers i have the firestone rh5 centers going into a 7in 17in hoop. They guy asked what i want for spacing, sould i split the difference and center movw it fwd or backwards from stock there as you all know there not cheap to have made and i need to ensure they will fit. The new hoops are 1/8 in smaller than stock.
What I will post here is intended to give information only. How you space your center discs in your new rims is your decision. Some of your decision will depend on how big you go with tires. Other guys can maybe give input on the amount of fender clearance you’ll need on your truck to allow the Section Width of the new radial tires to avoid rubbing. So that said.
Your stock 17” x 5.50” widow makers had .62” of positive offset. The below chart will help you see that you had 3.87” of “backset”. That figure is arrived at by taking half the rim width (2.75”), adding the rear lip (.50”), and adding the positive offset (.62”). If you go with a 7.00” rim you are adding 1.50” to the mix. To maintain the stock alignment relationship you would add .75” to your backset figure to yield 4.62” of backset, i.e. 4 5/8”. Stu
