Rear Main Leaking

Got under my 2013 5.0 this weekend to change the oil and filter. I saw it pretty moist and a few drips out the cover of the transmission bellhousing.
Looks like motor oil. Has anyone seen this problem? It has about 93000 miles on it.
Thanks Sonny

Those aren't real common, and easily confused because of location. Anything that's leaking into the engine valley or down the back of the block can come out at that spot. I'd take a good look at the back of the engine and make sure it's coming from the rear main.

For me, it was the transmission seal leaking. Either way, it requires dropping the tranny. Local shop charged me just under $1k; leak fixed. I've done it myself for my cars, but for my truck and the heft of the 6R80, I opted to pay the man.

Same 6R80, but with 4.6L 3V.

Had same problem, mine looked like motor oil due to age, but I dropped the two bolts and shield and noticed the drip line from the trans seal. I think I had to use my phone and stuck it up into the housing and took pictures to actually see where it was coming from. I too opted to take it to the shop, didn't look fun. The front, rear, and the o rings on the transmission wiring harness was replaced. They were all leaking. I paid $200 but I had a extended service agreement when I bought it used, not sure what the total was. New filter and fluid. If you do drop the oil pan, I'd recommend changing or at least cleaning the pickup tube. The screen can get dirty dropping oil pressure, providing the 5.0 is somewhat similar to the 4.6 in that aspect.

I've had two trucks that were leaking bad. a 2013 and a 2014. Some days it was worse. Pull the inspection cover in the front of the trans and see how wet it is inside. The inside of mine was bone dry indicating the rear main was OK. The oil pressure sensor on my 2014 was leaking bad and causing a leak at the rear of the engine/bellhousing area. Changing the sensor fixed it so far on the 2014. My 2013 just got back from the dealer for an oil pan gasket R&R. Cost around $575. I wasn't laying on my back dealing with that so I let the dealer handle it. Only thing I like to work on lately is the race car and even that's a stretch...

I had a position sensor on back of motor loosen up. Tighted it down and it was cured.
