Ignition switch

Hey guys I’m having a fun problem with an ignition switch on my bronco.

When I go to install the switch assembly into the dash, as I tighten the lock ring down, the face of the tumbler wants to spin with the lock ring.

If I install the lock ring with the key in the tumbler I can get the ring to tighten down correctly but the switch sticks in the start position.

I’ve mixed and matched a ignition switch provided by American Autowire, another (oem style) from LMC, a tumbler from LMC and 2 different oem lock rings with the same result

Anyone run ever run into this before? I’ve had a few of these trucks and this is a first for me.

Is this a '78/'79 Bronco? Or an Early?

Ok, not as familiar with those. I have a '79 but have never had to replace the switch. Yet...

Hopefully someone has some insight for you.

Youtube has some good videos on our ignition lock cylinders, maybe you'll spot something or a step you missed?
