OK...I did use the search function and it came back with 30 pages of "hits"...none of whom mentioned COOLANT FLUSH in the title....
So how critical is it to remove ALL of the old coolant? Can I just drain the rad and top it up with fresh and do this a few times and consider the job done?
I remember the old flush kits that you could buy where you'd cut into the heater lines and install this plastic fitting that broke a year later, after cooking in the engine bay.
So how do I do this properly?
Drain and refill a few times with fresh water. Drain and start with the antifreeze. Then add water. You might end up with a higher percentage of antifreeze, but that's better than not enough.
Unless the coolant has gone bubblegum or has oil in it or some other situation that would require going in further.
I doubt you have a drain on the block. If you find one, odds are you won't be able to get it open. So just the radiator. After a few fill/flush cycles (running the engine in the cycle of course) you should have all the old stuff out of the block.
