i have an old friend that's 84 yrs. old that allways ask me to work on his truck. the engine will run but smokes very rich , bad miss ontil over 1500 rpm ,but when hot would not run ,,, went back the next day with my trailer to take it to my shop and checked the oil and it was way over full , about 5 inches, mainly gas with very little oil . the truck was not run very much after it started missing. the truck has 118,000 miles and has allways been serviced every 2500 mi. uses no iol , i was worndering if anyone has ever delt with this before . thanks
no , it's a v6 fuel injection , 1988 . i haven't had time to look at it yet. but the first place i will look will be will the ,fuel presure reg,
then maybe the injectors , has anyone heard of an injector blowing the tip off or sticking open on a gas engine. any input would be great .

Yup. A stuck or melted injector tip will definitely do it and a gas motor can do it just as easy as a diesel.
I would be very concerned about damage done to the main/rod/cam berrings while trying to start it if there was that much gas in the pan.
Not to mention the fact that you are VERY lucky to be typing tonight - you could have been transformed into a big puddle of scorched pasta sauce !!

Your on the right track! I'd go with w/ the Injectors! They do stick open and maybe causing the rich running condition! Try some injector cleaner!

do you think that a sticking injector would put that much gas in the pan . the truck was only driven only a few miles after it started missing. is there anyway to test the injectors, pres. reg.
the way it was running i thought that it may have jumped time , but after i found the gas in the oil . i knew the problem had to be elsewhere.
Check for fuel in the vacuum line to the FPR, that is much more common. The plugs should tell you if its just one cylinder (injector) or all cylinders (FPR).
Howdy Ken;
You could'nt time that any closer! By the way, what is the FPR?
I'm still in the learning process and getting it in bits + pieces!

i agree with the,,, might be bearing damage . had 2 small blocks with a manual fuel pump dump gas in the pan , one no damage . one lost mains and rods bearings. guess it depends on how much the engine was ran . and had an mack engine put gallons of fuel in the pan , because of a cracked exhaust valve.
speaking of scorched pasta , there was a fuel tanker with 8500 gals. of gas , do a head on with a dump truck last week.

finally had time to look at this truck , drained 3 gal. of oil and gas out of the pan , unpluged the vac. line from the fpr turned pump on and gas came out vac. hose . so , i guess that was it
Dude, no kidding, you are VERY lucky that engine didn't go off like a huge hand grenade when you tried to start it.
Holy COW

as for the bearings,,,, i haven't started it yet. local parts stores didn't have a FPR ( small town ) bought a quart of lucas oil stabilizer to add to the oil , maybe it might help !
