ebpv cycling

ebpv cycling

Is the ebpv supposed to cycle or provide a constant increased back pressure? I'm guessing my sensor is going. I cleaned the tube and sensor out 6 months ago. While I'm driving down the road it's cycling driving a constant speed on flat ground pretty steadily till it warms up. Not a big deal, just obnoxious. No codes and koeo the map and ebp are the same. I have noticed that while idling it bounces the turbo pressure delta gauge courtesy of tugly bounces between .1 and .7

It depends. Steady throttle cruising on flat and level (and I mean FLAT and LEVEL) roads with no winds, no it shouldn't pulse. The PCM commands it to open any time acceleration or more power to get up a hill/fight a breeze is requested.

Monitor MAP and EBP to see if they are close in value while cruising. If they are, then you should be okay.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to disengage anytime you touch the accelorator or brake, at least thats how mine works. Mine only closes when the truck is parked.
I did have the problem your describing, I belive cleaning the ebpv tube and replacing the sensor resolved it.

While cruising the diff between map and ebp is around 1.5. I'm just going to buy a new ebp sensor and see if that's it I think.

Sorry I didn't address the surging. Surging is definately not normal operation. I've heard it on several truck including my own.
