Honing in on my 65 f100 cab interior. Beginning to re-install windows and all. The parking brake handle was broken. Got a new one and not sure how to remove old one.
Anyone replaced theirs? Old one held in place with a splined roll pin..it looks like..But there is no a hole to drive the pin out and it sits flush with handle collar. What am I missing here? Needs to be drilled out maybe? How to remove the broken handle?
Looking really good! I'm glad to hear the vent window frame made it safe and sound.
You can carefully cut the old plastic handle off with a saw or small disc grinder like a dremel and work around the pin to save it if the new handle didn't come with one.
The hole in the sector shaft where the pin taps into does not go all the way through, so you can't just drill the plastic on the opposite side and drive it out.
The pin is just a straight serrated piece.
I hope that helps some. Are they reproducing the handle now or did you find an NOS one?
MY BAD! The sector shaft pin hole DOES go all the way through. So you COULD drill a hole on the opposite side and drive it through. I had to go grab one to double-check myself there. Definitely a through hole in the sector shaft.
Yup Chad windows all back in doors. Anti rattlers and new division bars. Wing window rubbers and all rebuilt, thanks much for that cup. Perfect! Maybe door rubbers today.
Very helpful on removing shaft and all thanks Chad. Think I'll save it for an indoor winter day as brake works and I want to get the heater box rebuilt and back in first..Silly I thought a plastic brake handle would be a quick job.
Yes there are remanufactured handles available and they come with new pin....but on the one I bought, hole is not in the same place as original and seems new handle would sit cockeyed. At which point I will mention that not all remake parts are equally accurate. So far DC has been good quality and fit, every piece I've bought. But their shipping is slow, slow. The Echlin company not so good in quality and fit. ie brake handle with pin hole drilled in wrong place Just my HO in case anyone is new to buying these sorts of things. They are all about the same prices
Why thanks much...I may cut old handle off and drive pin through then.. Thanks again.
This forum is the best...
If you missed the one post above where I corrected my blatant error - that hole in the sector shaft does go all the way through. Sorry about my faux pas.
Looks nice. I noticed you said you had a new handle. Where did you manage to find it and do you have a lead on another one? I have been unable to locate one.
Thank you,
Chad

MUSTANG'S ETC in Van Nuys CA has 2 of these puppies (818-787-7634). I originally listed these on 6/18/2019, so I'd be surprised if they still have them...if they did originally.
The problem with some of the obsolete parts vendors is, they don't update their inventory on partsvoice.com & rearcounter.com when they sell something.
Hi Chad the parking brake handle is not NOS but a new reproduction handle. From LMC Truck parts number #47-2004 $8.95
Didn't get to that today. An iffy window regularor decided to go non op. Fortunately I had not buttoned up the door yet. Seems the gear mechanism is binding..only in one direction. Will drill out the housing and see what's going on in there tomorrow.
