i swapped the 5.8 in place of my 5.0, aside from getting it running right, i am thinking about a chip to get my 4x4 93 automatic shifting right. i stayed with the stock computer, cut the cats and thermactor pipe, and added a y pipe, stock manifolds and ported 69cc heads, a comp cam with 210/214 sep@50, 478/485lift and 114 sep. my question is for my aplication do i need a custom burnt chip or can i get by with a off the shelf. i really dont want to spend the money as it is but the stock shift points do not work with my cam. also what are the shift points b/c i dont want to feel like it is hammerin itself like when i used to adjust the vacuum modulators in on the old c4/c6 for that umph.
Yes, we can program a chip for those requirements, putting the shift points exactly (within 50-100 rpm) where you need them. Do you know what the code is on the computer box? Let me know and I'll tell you the options available (don't think yours is a computer controlled tranny but its late and I'm not at my best right now!).
can i find the code without pulling the box? it has a button for od, i think e40d but am not 100%sure, i couldnt run maf because of it. it isnt a c6 i know that and it dont have a kickdown or vac modulator, i feel kinda stupid right now , but i am sure it is a computer controlled. also i was getting a bit confused on pricing, u have chips with a single prog and ones that u can switch back to 87 with a switch?
The code is on the box where the wiring harness attaches. If that's gone then you have to pull the box to see it. Yes, the 2 stage chips (1 performance tune) lets you switch back to stock (87 octane) with the included switch.
