Ok, I am new to this forum, but I have a problem. I recently acquired a 1988 Bronco from a friend. It has a new 351 engine, new transmission, and new BW 1356 transfer case. He had a new tranny and transfer case put in about a year and a half ago. Well, the transfer case seems to keep popping into neutral. He had a mechanic look at it, and pulled the case out, split it and come to find out the c-clip that holds the shift rod in place had come loose, so you could not shift the case. Well, it happened again about a week later. After about a year, I finally got it. I pulled the case the other night and split it and sure enough, the clip was off, as well was the armeture??. I put it back together, with out the spring rod attached to the armeture, and it seemed pretty tight against the c-clip. There is a washer that slips in-between the case and armeture that is making it tight agains the c-clip, possibly poppint the clip off.. Prematurely, I am thinking of having a few thousandths taken off to relieve the stress on the c-clip. Or is there something I am missing. Any comments or suggestions. Jonathan Grant
