So Ford gives us sham oil pressure gauges and the manual says they are real, but GM gives you a real oil pressure gauge. Ford pushes 5w20 oil that likely is bad for your engine, but GM only goes as low as 5w30. This bugs me. I am a die hard Ford guy and probably will stick with Ford, but the GMC trucks and especially the GMC version of the new mid sized truck will be very enticing, particularly for a inline engine guy like me. If Ford drops stick shifts (can't get one in a 2004 F150) that will make it even worse.
I agree completely. The one that annoys me the most is ford not offering a stick, I suppose if I get a newer truck I'll get a 250, I like them better anyways.
As good as the '04 F150 looks, the Superduty is better looking. I think the cost is not much different between the SD and an '04 F150 with the 5.4 V8. You'd get a few hundred more pounds though.
Now, at such a critical (so some say) make or break time for Ford, they should have offered a manual since autos add $1000 to the price. The manual would have allowed them to show a lower base price. One of the media's biggest complaints about the '04 has been the high price tag.
The stick shift F-150 is coming out in 05 with a car like shifter/console setup instead of a long stick to the floor like our older trucks (better shift throws) and that they don't have to make two consoles.
Ford hasn't offered a stick in an F150 without a V6 since '96 Why would they go back to offering one now with a V8? You just have to wait a bit for the V6 to come out, and then the stick will be back. Don't get me wrong, I think it would be awesome for them to offer one, but things are the way they are.
Fordman350, Ford has offered the 5 speed with the 4.6 up until this year, and as I have heard here and other places is that a manual is in the works for the '05. I don't think that the Heritage model has 5-speed available with the 4.6, so for an 04 of either type you might be stuck with an auto. Fact is that most people who buy pickups want auto's and it helps Ford keep its manufacturing cost down while they are currently producing two half ton models until the Heritage is phased out. They still have a low cost pickup for 04, but it's not the new style. Just be patient, Ford wants to stay the top seller of trucks, and I'm sure(hopefully) that they know that they will have to offer a 5-speed to stay that way.
Oh, really? I wasn't aware that a 5-speed was offered with the 4.6. Sorry about that. But isn't it true that they are probably only going to offer a stick with the V-6 on the '05 model?
