Hey, I'm looking for a patch piece for the inside of my cab. It's the drivers side just aft of the door. Not really sure what to even call this area. I know I won't be able to make one, pictured below with tape measure for scale. I'll take as big or small a piece available if anyone has a donor cab they're cutting up or knows of some other availability. Thanks
Not sure what the previous owner had in mind here.
I had a pair of those, but I used them in my 66 to "double up" the metal in order to reinforce the area for the shoulder mount for 3-point seat belts. Since this area won't show, under the headliner, it would be easy to cut and curve a piece of metal to fit. The weld and curve will reinforce it enough that you shouldn't have to worry about having the embossed ridge. You may be hard pressed to find someone who has this piece...even from the guys here on FTE.
Might give Flashback F100's a try. They buy up rust free stuff from the southwest and then part them out and cut out repair pieces. They have a decent reputation around here for good quality, though not always the cheapest on price.
You might be able to find a small steel drum with ridges about that size so a piece would have both curve and embossing. Flashback sent me a windshield post for $75 and I thought that was fair, for me to find one in the north east that I had to cut out myself would be a bigger investment for sure. If they have one that it won't impact the value of any other parts they might be more than reasonable, that's not a big part so the shipping shouldn't be cheap.
