Factory Mag wheels cracking
Hi all, My 2006 F350 SD is fitted with 16" factory mags wheels, vehicle has 130,000Kms with all services done and no hard work. I was chatting to a F Truck reseller and he related that these mags were subject to cracking and there have been some failures and other who discovered before failure. Has anyone had issues with these wheels cracking and/or failing. If so can you let me know of your experience please. I am the 3rd owner and would like to be informed of any potential issues as we use the F350 to tow a caravan (2.5 tonne ans 250 ball weight. We have been over scales and are under weight on all concerns. Thank you.

Maybe your F dealer could have been a little more clear. Where do they crack? FWIW, I haven't heard of this before but that doesn't mean they don't. Cracking can come from a number of issues including abuse, wrong lugs, tire machine damage, potholes and other road hazards. If I were you I would inspect my wheels and if they look OK then I wouldn't worry about them. The biggest complaint I have heard is the corrosion and pitting of the wheels. Your truck is 13 years old, if the wheels were going to crack they should have done it by now. I wouldn't worry about it.
