We're gong into 'build season' now...post up what you have planned to do with your rig.
I've got a small oil leak i need to address, and some road tuning. However, it's deer season here in Georgia, so I wont be doing any of that until January.
I think I have a weak lifter on #8 exhaust, been reading to see if lifters come out, without removing stock heads, if not they wont be what goes back on,ITS CHRISTMAS YA KNOW! not sure which way I need to cross fingers
I was able to remove the hydraulic rollers on my stock 1987 5.0 HO engine with the heads in place. Your 5.8 has a taller deck, so there should be less of an issue.
However, if I had a chance to replace the stock heads with something that breathes better, I would go for it, assuming I can recalibrate my computer to match the changes.
thanks xlt4wd90, my understanding is H/I/C (heads/intake/cam) any 2 and not all 3 SD will be fine (just dont be silly on cam selection) I even found an old pic Conanski posted for cams, I ported my upper/lower so I'm wanting heads and keeping my stock cam, and see how it goes, and maybe add 1.7's later on, need to get checked out before I hurt it pic courtesy of Conanski
