Added Select Shift capability success!!

I have been looking at adding the Select Shift/SST function to my 2013 F-150 which did not have it from the factory. It was a Hertz rental truck that I bought. I have been slowly adding the parts to the truck to transform it into the factory tow package in order to safely gain the towing capacity. The last piece to the puzzle was the SST function.
A lot of research showed that MANY people have asked and even a few tried but there was no indication that ANYONE has been successful. I am here to tell you that it CAN be done thanks for FORscan!
Parts needed are an instrument cluster that have the “M” indicator which also will show you which gear you manually select, and a new shifter with the +\- buttons.
Once you swap the cluster and install the new shifter you will go into FORscan and open the module tab. Locate the PCM ID Block configuration and run it.
It will open a page that shows the VIN and a few various things, one of them being Select Shift transmission. I opened that up and changed it from “not equipped” to “equipped” and wrote that configuration. Once complete I now had Select Shift transmission! I drove it and tested it out and it is 100% functional! No change to the PCM as-builts necessary!
I really didn’t think it would be that easy but it was! I’m honestly surprised no one has figured this out yet!
So for the few of us out there that wanted to add this capability, here is my gift to you!! Thank you FORScan!!

Nice work, I would really like to do the same thing.
Where did you get the cluster and shifter?
I thought I read somewhere that the odometer is part of the cluster so if you change it you change the mileage. Is this really how it works?

Awesome thread!!! The reason this is new is due to the updated FORScan v.2.3.26. When I found this, I was using v.2.3.17 which didn’t have that PCM Veh ID block config. Also seems to require the extended key.

details please

Hi,

I've just bout a 2014 f150 XL and would like to get more details on your upgrade please. I'm looking to add cruise control and select shift. Does the instrument cluster need to be cloned or just mileage correction?

Looking to swap steering wheel button cluster to part #SW-6836. The one with up/down/left/right/ok and cruise option.

Also, do I just need to swap shift lever for the one with the up/down button?

Thank you in advance, tjt

Hi all again,

Got no reply or answers so, maybe y'all want to know why i want this. Just got 2014 f150 4x4 plain jane. No power windows, door locks etc.

Select shift works for me. Some ppl say position of button is awkward but, if u used to D2D shuffle its not that bad. Better than shifting into wrong gear.

I drive f250's - f350's at work regularly with select shift. I'm kinda old skool and not looking to bounce around and beat my brains out. (oops, too late)

Seen lots of posts here where ppl say they never use M (manual) i do daily. If/when i'm on a really back road....bumpy & sloppy i'll go manual in 3rd or 4th gear....easier than transmission searching gears & less wheel spin.

thankx
