gear change

is it hard to change gears into a 9 inch rear end

since there is no back cover i guess i gotta go through the front and drop the driveshaft

remove the yoke, pull the axles, remove the third member, remove the ring and pinion, then comes the fun part of make sure the shims are the correct ones. If you dont know how to do this, take it to someone, it will cost about $50 with the member out.

that seems like a lot of work does it take that much work for any other ford rearend

Pretty much, its not that hard, but the shim part you don't want to mess with. You can ruin a set of gears by driving down the block. TRUST ME,lol. The Dana series are about the same, but just have a different set of corky tricks, like prying the carrier out. You should be able to have someone put the gears in the 9" much cheaper than the Danas however, if this helps. A new set of gears will be between $120 and $185, expect the installation cost to be about the same.
