I added a 2 bottles of friction modifier. Full disclosure, I had only used oil that had friction modifier in it, when I first did it. I put 2 bottles in after about 100 miles. Ive got a little over 200 miles on it now. It seems to be much quieter, except when backing up or on a concrete parking lot turning into a parking space. Plus the wheel squealing is still annoying. But like I said, it is getting a little better. I live in the country so I hear it trying to slip in the gravel road but its probably not getting enough traction to make the inside tire slip as much there. Highway is quiet. Just low speed sharp turns and backing up turns.
Low speed turns, especially when backing up is the classic grabbing-clutch symptom. Sounds like it's getting better, but it sure sounds like yours are TIGHT!
I did not see any comment about squealing tires in your first post, or of loose traction slipping, but add those in and now for sure it sounds like grabbing clutches. Guess they just need to soak up some more of the stinky stuff.
I can't say I've heard of them being so finicky, but the Dana units were definitely considered to be more traction biased than most others. So maybe this is all normal for a new unit. Dunno... Heck, squealing tires is what spools do! Even Detroil Lockers don't do that most of the time.

I don't mind that too much.... Although I cringe at the the thought of the cost of tires.... But the way people jump out of their skin when the locker ratchets and it sounds like I broke an axle to me, but sounds like a drive by shooting to them is priceless.
Stay away from Yukon brand trac loc. I had 2 of them come apart catastrophically.
Lunchbox locker in the open carrier worked fine, but it was rough for sure. I don't recommend it for street use.
The Detroit True trac that I have now is by far the best behaving and best performing differential on the market. Yeah, they cost a lot, but they're worth every penny. Locker traction with open diff comfort!
djc1978,
don't rule out this option. i picked up a 9 3/4 traction lok center section, swapped out my one leg'er, been running it with no problems for many years. i had to slightly "v" the housing to allow the big ring gear to fit.
