Question A Plan?

Can anyone tell me about 'A Plan' buying options? What is it exactly and what do I need to do to get the 'A Plan' pricing? Is this better than fleet pricing? I'm interested in buying an 04' F150.

Thanks!

You have to have a relative working or retired from Ford.

Also, if you can find someone to claim you're a relative, you give them you're social security and they give you a PIN.

It's good for a year.

The pricing is the lowest you can get.

What is the Best Price??????

If I am trying to get the best price in a 4wd Crew Cab truck, do you expect to get the best deal at the local dealer or do you check some of the big places like Dallas or is the best source on-line?

Also,
After all the rebates for oversupply, depressed sales areas, owner loyalty, previous non-Ford owner, having a Granddad who owned a Ford, Mercury loyalty, taking a few night classes, having a letter of intent for the National Guard, etc...

After all the BS what is the best % off of MSRP that on could hope for?

I want to buy what I want for as few dollars as I can!

Thanks.
Joe

I am a Ford employee. I paint the black on all the F-150 windshields that are being sold. The A plan price is 2.5% under dealers cost. I just purchased my supercrew last week. It is a loaded lariat, black, with black leather. List was 40,700. A plan was 33,000. If you can find a friend that works for Ford, you can ask them for a "x" plan. It is for friends of Ford employees. It is about 2% over dealer cost. Some salesman will help you find someone that will let you have one if you find a good, honest one. Be aware that the dealerships have 2 or 3 invoices they can show you. So, some of the things you read about paying so much over invoice may not be so true. The dealerships are only required to show employees the actual cost of the vehicle. If Ford found out that they tried to screw a fellow employee, the can lose thier liscense to sell Fords. I also worked for a Ford dealership before making windshields. Hope this helps.

"A" Plan is the price for ford employees. "X" plan is a different plan altogether. I am in the X plan thru my employer. We are in the oil business and have nothing to do with Ford manufacturing but the Company buys a lot of Ford trucks and so FMC offers us the X plan pricing. I have the details at work but i believe it is A plan price plus 2%. On 03 F150's in houston, i can beat the pants off an X plan price just by going with what the dealer idvertises. But at this point in time, X plan on the new style 04 would probably beat nearly all advertised prices. The dealer invoice will show A plan price, the dealer just bumps it up for the 2% and that is the X plan price. Going from memory now, the 2% markup might be wrong. Will have to check tomorrow.

Both pricing posts are very helpful! Pricing is definitely a "relative" thing in more than one sense of the word! Since I don't have a friend or relative working for Ford, I will need to work with relative numbers which is where %s come in.

The first post indicates the X plan is 4.5% differant than the A plan. This comes from the A plan being 2.5% under actual dealer cost and the X plan being 2% over dealer cost.

Dbraz, thanks for the dollar amounts of your purchase. I can now make an educated guess about what the actual dealer cost is for a vehicle based on MSRP and get a feel on whether I am getting a good deal on a Screw or just getting screwed again! I assume Ford forgets about any rebates when giving you an A plan price.

This also gives a very good base line for looking at the advertized vehicle sitting on the lot at the end of the month, preferably in Dec and determing how good is it. Thanks 03f150 man. It probably does beat the socks off of A sometimes.

I wonder if the Ford marketing people let the Screw slip by them. All sorts of Freudian possibilities here.
