wont start
wont start
decided to get the truck in the garage running again. 2001 f150 5.4l. everything worked fine when it was parked 3 yrs ago in the garage. new battery, changed filters and fluids. when i turn the key to acc radio comes on, ac works, all lights work. when i turn the key forward to start it, everything goes off, nothing happens then everything comes on but truck wont start. Starter is tested and good, new battery, grounds check and all are in good condition and tight. fuel pump doesnt prime and i hear a click coming from the fuse box by driver door. any suggestions?
The click is probably a relay, either for the fuel pump or for the ECU. Both of them should be clicking. And just because a relay makes a click doesn't mean that it is completing the secondary circuit. Was it humid or wet where the truck was parked?
Have you checked your battery connections?
Also, these newer vehicles seem to get messed up when their battery is allowed to go dead - as opposed to when the battery is simply disconnected. My 2005 Mustang GT was like that. The windows wouldn't drop when opening the door, so I reset the power windows following a procedure I found online, and that fixed them - and it also caused my Airbag warning light to finally go out, as it had been staying on. So it could be an electrical brainfart too.
You will get better more-informed answers if you post this in the section for your truck's generation.

Fuel pump might be due to the inertia switch, but I don't think that stops it from cranking. Also, there's always the clutch or park/neutral switch. If it's an auto you can try starting it in neutral. Second the vote to try the section for your year of truck -- guys there are likely to have more specifics.
