Ran out of fuel and now it won't start. Did the usual, opened filter to bleed, on off with key to pump air out, etc. Finally got it started using starting fluid and got it running, held it to around 2000 rpm for several minutes (twice) but it won't stay running nor will it start without the starting fluid. Had a Mobile mechanic come look at it and he couldn't fix it so we towed it to the Ford dealer. They've had it several days now and they can't tell me what is wrong yet.
The car is an Excursion, 2005 with a 6.0 engine. Several upgrades have been done, larger turbo, new inter cooler and more. Running well until this happened.
Any ideas out there, asking for a friend who is stuck at my house waiting.
EDIT: I see the Poster that I was replying to with this comment has had his post Deleted
just doing the edit to update so others aren't wondering WTF was this all about LMAO
the price you pay when you run a diesel out of Fuel ... it's never a good thing as the Injection Pump always suffers due to lack of Lubrication, Kinda like running your engine out of Oil nothing good comes from it.
I don't know much about the 6.0 but maybe you can check for Codes to see IF other issues exist

You are right it was the injection pump. I think it cost my buddy close to $ 4k to repair it. His wife says that this is it, get rid of it. I think everytime he has gone on a trip with this Excursion it has broke down on him.
