Drive shaft separation

Does anyone know how to separate the middle slip yoke on a 1986 f250? I've been tugging on this thing for a bit and can't get it to separate. Also I need to know soon I'm doing the work at my job

Make sure you mark it first......

Unscrew the Nut from the back of the yoke if it has one.

Example.......

normally threaded.... but... who knows... maybe some were crimped on... mine in my 93 is RH thread and it has a rubber seal under it that gets compressed when you tighten the nut.

when you loosen the nut it comes apart then you can slide the seal off the splines then the Nut comes off the splines.

BOTTOM line is you ain't getting it apart until that nut is removed.

who knows it could be cross threaded and rusted in place too... Pipe wrench and a vise may help... the thing is the nut walls are thin and clamping pressure on the nut from your wrench can make it seem tighter.

They are fine threads and it could be stripped too, BUT IF it is crimped in place you still need to remove it.... my 83 was also Screw Thread... but I don't know... some could have been crimped on....
