Got a difference on my front inside wheel seal housing diameter and looking for some guidance if anyone else has had similar observation. The prescribed seal has a inside diameter of 2 inches which is fine. The housing diameter is 2.63 and mine measures closer to 2.4 inches so its a no go. Of course the old seal was discarded and at a loss as to which other lip type seal will fit. These are the seals that fit inside the dust shield. Someone surely switched this truck's at some point is my guess. Any ideas as to what may fit these mystery shields? TIA
Truck is an 88' 2 wheel drive F-150 with the six cylinder

Reason: description
The outside 'lip' of the seal fits behind the dust shield, and the dust shield faces the hub. Probably would take the dust shield in to fit with a 2" inside diameter seal. Not sure how many of our trucks use this type of seal.
Maybe I have this wrong. Going by what was disassembled and remember the seal being in the back side the dust shield.
The seal DOES go into the rear of the hub ok. Perhaps it should be against the dust shield after bearings are fitted?
Need a parts diagram to see. Possibly work either way?

That is not correct.

Yes.
Dust shield goes against the knuckle first. The seal is driven onto the the back of the hub after installing the inner wheel bearing. Then install the rotor onto the spindle.
