Took the toy hauler to get winterized earlier today. On the way home, I noticed a sucking sound coming from behind me; maybe near the fuel filler or under the truck / fuel filter area?
It only made the noise under moderately heavy boost and above, like when accelerating. Cruising it would stop. I tried power braking a bit after I unhitched my trailer in an effort to replicate the noise but no dice.
Anyone have any idea?
No CEL, 2013 F350 SCAB DUALLY. Rudy's CAC but otherwise stock.

Do you you have any way to monitor your boost? I really don't think you have a "boost leak" coming from behind you, there is no boost back there. Did it seem like you were down on power? Is it possible you just haven't paid attention to that sound before?
Only have the stock gauges to monitor boost. Don't really think I was down on power... Definitely a new noise. Once it made the noise I let off the throttle. Thinking maybe the oring on the fuel filter?
I guess it could be something on the fuel side, truck is sucking air in the fuel lines maybe? Have you had your filters changed recently? If so i would check the filters or take em back to where you had it serviced and have them check it out.
I changed the filters out about 7,000 miles ago... Got under the truck and didn't see anything wrong with the filter down below. The upper filter did have a little weepage on it.
I also tightened up the CAC tune clamps. Got a couple turns out of each. I guess that could have allowed pressure to escape, but the noise was almost definitely behind me...
That is interesting. Since you have made those adjustments i would hook up to your trailer and try to replicate the conditions. same road same speed ect. Could the sound have been resonating off of a wall or something?
Yeah, I'll have to take it for a spin... No walls for sounds to bounce off in the area... I could dip into the boost and replicate it a few times. Didn't want to do it much in case I was damaging something.
Took the dually to pick up a new grill guard from a guy on Craigslist yesterday. Was out in farm land, nobody else around so I was able to get a video or two of the noise... I was able to replicate the noise, which I think is more of an air rushing sound, definitely hear it behind the cab, but I assume it could be eminating from below the cab and I just don't hear it coming from there because the truck is moving.
I was able to determine it starts around 13 pounds of boost on up. RPM does not seem to be the cause. I shifted to manual and got the rpms to almost 4,000 with minimal boost and no noise.
Noise is tough to hear on the videos and I can't figure out how to post them. Sounds like wind when you roll down the window on the freeway.
Was thinking exhaust leak maybe?
Crawled under the truck and looked around some, trying to figure out what to do... Found an exhaust gasket or two in questionable form... I guess these could be the culprits?
