83' F-100 4.9L problem

I own a 83 F-100 4.9l straight six, how do i replace the head gasket, do I need the whole set or just the main seal?

Depneds on what you intend to replace. If its just the head you will need:
* Valve cover gasket
* Intake and exhaust manifold gasket
* Head gasket
This is about the minimum.

new head bolts are not a bad idea either

** ford did not recomend the use of an exhaust manifold gasket on the 4.9 the intake gasket however was used
