Traffic slowed too fast, guy in front of my panic stopped way too early and I couldn’t stop the beast in time. Fenders are untouched, hood and lights are untouched. My main concern is something else being messed up in the rest of the truck. It took a shot from the front. I guess there’s no way to know until I start driving it.
Whats everyone’s experience ?
Truck only has 7500 miles on it. At least no one was hurt.

Matt
I think you should buy a new SD. Lol
Just messing with you.
With that being said and since you hit the driver in front of you, I’m sure your local Ford dealer will check over more than the items you mentioned but they won’t know of more damage until they get in there and take your vehicle apart.
This is what insurance is for so don’t stress over it.
The way some people slam on their brakes due to not driving ahead or following too closely has made me realize that a biggerfollowing distance is a smart move: especially when moving 8000-9000 lbs of truck down the road. Now with that said the next issue with larger following distances is all the people who just have to jump into every spot and create another problem. It blows my mind how many folks do that and often times it's an 18 wheeler they do it to. Too much of my life was around the wrecker business ( tow trucks). Many eye openers there!
Sounds like the opportunity to upgrade to an aftermarket bumper.
I’m waiting for that same excuse on both bumpers. Drove my previous Super Duty for 14 years and still had the original bumpers on it without a scratch so maybe the waiting idea isn’t working for me!

I have increased my following distance with my truck especially when towing but it fries my noodle when someone jumps in between me and the vehicle ahead. Before long 3 cars have jumped ahead of you for no reason. Slight rant over...
I think that you're t'd off because you damaged your truckand its your fault and I get that but mistakes happen and the truck will be good as new once repaired
If you have a superduty it WILL NOT apply to brakes to stop you.
If you have the adaptive cruise control on it will aggressively use the brakes to slow you down, but will not stop you.
The collision avaidance will come on if you are still getting to close, and the brakes are "precharged" so you get 100% brakes as soon as you touch them.
Also the collision avaidance does not work if something is STOPPED in front of you or is coming towards you.

I understand just joking but that's why it was close.

Whenever I start counting the cars who have jumped into my increased following distance, I instead switch to counting the number hours it will take for the highway patrol to arrive on the scene, interview the drivers, investigate the incident, and file their report. I then start counting the number of days it will take for the body shop to schedule the repairs. Then the number of weeks I will be in a rental car waiting for them to finish the job. Then the number of months it might take me to recover from injuries. Then the number of years an at fault accident will appear on my driving record. Then the number of dollars my insurance premiums will go up as a result of losing my good driving discount.
And while I pause to calculate the ramifications of all this counting... a few more cars zip into my following distance. A half second for each car. I wave a few more in. 30 more seconds is nothing compared to what I just added up.
