Trailer TPMS/Camera

Honing down what I will order on the 2020 but I'm confused about the trailer TPMS and camera systems. On the order guide and on the build and price sites like NADA it shows 3 options. The first is 65A which includes 6 trailer tire sensors pre-installed. It is $50 invoice cost. The second is 65B which is the camera only, also pre-installed, which is $341 invoice. The third option appears to be a combination of the 2 and is $660 invoice. This makes no sense cost wise if you can get both with the first 2 options for a total of $391. I am assuming pre-installed means the displays in the cab are set up to receive the information. Trying to figure out what I'm missing.

I know the tire sensors will probably not fit my 17.5 inch wheels on our fifth wheel but I can work around that with another $80 buying the adapters from Nichols Manufacturing.

Not sure about the pricing but I just got the TPMS & Camera. The pre-installed parts are the plug and harness for it that need to be installed. The rest of the kit you install on the trailer. I also believe you must have the 360 camera system to use the extra camera.

I should have said I am leaning toward a Platinum. The camera system is standard.

Pre-installed? Is that really happening from the factory now? All my trailer TPMS/Camera parts came in a box and I had to put it all together myself.

The NADAguides build and price show those as pre-installed but when I looked at the Ford builder's guide that word is not used. My assumption was the ability for the truck to read the sensors and camera was pre-installed, not the items themselves. After looking at it again I can't see that there is any change from previous models.

What is different is the 19's option list was for the customer placed camera only or the camera and the TPMS as a package. For 20 there is a 3rd option for 6 TPMS trailer tires sensors only. Then there is the camera only and the camera/TPMS package. What I'm trying to figure out is why buying the TPMS and camera separately is not much more than half the price of buying them as a package. I asked a dealer and got an I don't know.

The dealer installed the wiring harness and swapped plugs for me, the rest came in a box for me to install in the trailer. They gave me back all the old parts as well.

Isn't this $50, per each sensor? Not total for all.

On the order guide it shows option 65A, includes six (6) TPMS trailer sensors. For $50 I say why not. I can always get the camera later for probably a cheaper price.

Only if the rear connector is installed on the tpms harness that goes under the trailer. There are 2 cables under the trailer. unless they changed how it is wired, first one goes to the tpms reciever box which I mounted just above my axles, the second goes from the tpms reciever box to the camera, I wonder if the tpms only kit removes the connect for the camera.

So, to get the system work it takes more than just the sensors? I know very little about it as I have an aftermarket TPMS that uses screw on sensors. It works well so that will be my fall back.

I did build a 2020 GMC 3500 on a build and price site a while back. One of the options is the trailer TPMS system for $50. I wonder if Ford thought they had to match it. I think GM uses the screw on type.

Not sure if it would even work, please let me lnow if I am reading this right:

Form the Ford description of the kit:
The Trailer TPMS sensors cannot be used on steel carcass (belted) tires.

Details on Goodyear Endurance tires:
Endurance trailer tires feature a rounded profile to help cushion the trailer's ride, and the symmetric tread design with closely spaced ribs provide constant rubber-to-road contact for straight tracking, dependable highway stability and long-lasting wear. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts with a two-ply nylon reinforcement to stabilize the tread, increasing traction and durability.

Aren't most decent trailer tires steel belted?

Likely referring to "G" (or higher) medium duty / commercial steel carcass tires (like what comes on the F450).

No this was specifically for the trailer TPMS kit with the camera.

I know one of the 5th wheels I am looking at has G rated tires though

I have 17.5 load range H tires on my fifth wheel. I would think they are steel belted so probably need to keep the stand alone TPMS system which works very well.

Same here on my 2018.
I got the camera only but the wire harness for the trailer has the wires and connectors for the trailer TPMS.
Also did not get any TPMS valve stems.
