After fighting for a long time installing the new rubber and noted the new was not just like the old but moved on any way. Then found I installed it wrong and had to fix that.
Go to install the frame and cant get it to go in?
I even pulled the glass back out and still will not fit so I then try the other side I have not pulled apart yet and it will not fit also WTH?
I should point out that I had to get new frames as mine were rotten.
So I pulled out the old ones to match up and that is when it all turned to crap!
This is what I found.
I could not get them to fit because they were to long maybe 4" (did not measure) and was thinking I can cut off the extra and should fit but ...........
If you look the channel the glass would fit in it also wider.
Think they are from a newer truck? I got them years ago and don't remember from who now.
Now it looks like there is a spacer in there that takes up the extra space but they would then mean the glass is skinner.
So the question(s) is do you think I can use them by cutting the channel shorter to fit in the door?
What do I do about the spacer in the channel? I don't think the new channel seal will sit all the way in to
the bottom?
Anyone have good vent window frames they want to sell for a 81 truck?

Why did you pick up replacements? Old ones messed up?
yes big time.
Both the lower povits are broken, 1 nothing left as it rusted a way and the bottom of the channels are also rusted away just to start with.
I don't think it is worth the time to try and fix them if I can get some in better shape.

I knew I would have an early get out day so took the wheels with me to work and on the way home dropped them off.
If all goes good I should have them by EBD but this is me (look below) LOL
Thanks to Bill aka BRNWAXA, member on FTE
With the parts I got from Bill and some of what I have will work to make a complete working set.
I see the parts have a bracket that looks to use a mirror screw to support the mirror & outer panel from cracking, I don't know if it will clear on my truck so I wanted to test fit.
Also wanted to test fit before I got into painting them & replacing the rubbers.
I tried to fit 1 in a door, after trying for 45 min. and only getting a little farther than I did with the other wrong parts I was going to try the other side when it hit me!
Why not see if the part is the same as what came out like I did with the wrong parts!
Well besides the bracket that I can cut off if I have to they are ALSO too long! Only 1.5 inches longer but enough I cant get it to pivot it into place.
When I have time, most likely this weekend, I will trim a little at a time till I can get them into place then I will make them look new before installing for good.

I pulled window seals from a 90's truck at the wrecking yard because my truck had a 60 mph whistle that was really loud. They were skinnier than my 86, so the skinny window channels you have would probably be from a newer model. Not sue what year I pulled from, seems like around a 93 or so.

It's the black window divider that is skinny not the seal.
Look at the pictures above as I have them next to each other to show this. About 1/2" skinner and 5 inches shorter that the first replacements. The 2nd set are 1.5 inches longer than what I pulled out.
I believe the doors & guts are all 81 parts, 11/80 is what the sticker has so could be left over 80 parts?
