Did Ford make it?
Just wondering if there were any 99-04 f350 drw cab and chassis made that were rated at or under 10,001 gvw? I just picked up a 99 f350 drw C&C dump for a winter beater, but because it's rated at 11, 200 gvw I have to register it as commercial which involves a DOT inspection and higher insurance, which I'd rather not deal with. I can't change the weight rating on it, already looked into that option.
Ideally I'd like to find a excab, v10, standard shift 4x4 drw C&C with a 8/9ft bed length under 10,001gvw, probably a unicorn truck seeing how that's what I seem to always want.

I don't know but I doubt a DRW would be under 10K.
The problem would be, your ideal truck would be capable of hauling more than 10K.
If you had a full load of gravel and were stopped and were only registered for up to 10K .........
If your state uses plates marked "commercial" every time you passed a cop without those plates and a heavy load, you would be an easy mark.

Hello speedfreak78, I find it interesting that you would have to register your F-350 DRW as a commercial vehicle? Then again I am not in your MA state and don't know the Laws pertaining to GVW and vehicle registration. I would start by calling your local DMV and see what they have to say as far as you having to register this F-350 as a commercial vehicle ? Its possible that the previous owner was using the truck as a commercial vehicle and had to resister it that why because of liability insurance etc. It would be one thing if you had air brakes and were pulling 80K , but your not! I would start with your local DMV and see what they have to say about things first. Good Luck.
