my brake pedal bounces up and down when pressure is applied. The vehicle has been sitting for about a year now and has been recently driven less than a mile. The brakes need to be pressed excessively hard. Could this be a sign of uneven rotors? Do i need new brake pads? thanks for the help.
If its been sitting for a year, the rotors are probally rusted . If it dosent clear up after a few more miles, then turn the rotors and check the pads.
well thats what i thought, it seems like the one front tire turns smoothly and the other tire will turn smoothly about 300 degrees and the rest are tight with the brakes off. It has been driven to where the rotors are smooth and shiny and im thinking my front rotor could be warped.
You may not believe me, but I used to over-torque the front rotors on my mustang. Whenever I quite putting He-man torque on my front rotors the pulsating in my brake pedal went away. Before you buy new rotors try loosening them and then using a torque wrench to snug them to the proper tightness. Hope you find the problem.
one front rotor seems to be a bit tight but its the same way the whole way around. The back tires also seem to have no tight spots. I found that the other front rotor has a slight warpage and you can tell when you look through the caliper and the rotor spins. when you spin the tire it gets tight at the same spot when turning. I am going to torque them to spec and drive around a bit and see what happens.
