49 COE

So I have an original 49 F6 COE. Want to do a frame and engine swap to make a ramp truck to haul our 32 ford 5 window coupe on. Have been looking for an E450 chassis with a 7.3 diesel with limited success. How big of a deal would an F series be as far as the steering box differences? Also what about 350's, what would I have to do to safely upgrade one to carry that 5 window?

I think you would be wise to keep looking for the E450. The heavier gvw will help if you make a car hauler out of it. Here is a source you should look into: publicsurplus.com It is a site where public agencies auction off there surplus equipment, works like ebay. Lots of e series get sold there. Just keep checking for a while. One like you are looking for should come up.
