Hello
can someone help me? where is the pcv valve in my e150 i believe its a 302 engine and whats the best way to get to it to replace...also what is the best way to get to the spark plugs, wires, distributor etc to tune it up..this is my first van and really trying to figure out best way to get to them to tune it up...also there are supposedly 2 check valves on the air system where would they be and how do i get to them...thank you very much for any help or suggestions
Mike
its pretty loud when i accelerate but when i get to speed it quiets done quite a bit only when i accelerate is when its sounds like exhaust leak flutter. comes from what appears to be passenger side engine compartment
you think pcv valve?
it could be the the check valve on the air injector pipe for the exhaust system off of the smog pump.it is located on the passenger side. if it is bad it will make that kind of noise.
Pull the airbox off & the 2 hoses to the throttle body to get access to the dizzy.
Plugs: Take the doghouse off.
The left hand bank (from drivers seat looking forward) of plugs are real easy to get access: they point back atcha.
The rear 3 on the right bank are fairly easy, but the worst one is the front- I turn my wheel and go through the wheel well with a long extension & a UJ.
The wires are the same: easy on the left bank, nightmare on the right.
I can do my plugs in under an hour (but I stuck those Bosch Platinum +4's in so I don't have to do it so often ) including taking the doghouse off & on.
I tried those bosch platinum plugs and talk about yuck. Made my 351 run like crap. I also succesfully melted the electroded on 2 of them so beware of bosch plugs in a ford engine. I hear a loud "buzz" or flutter on acceleration, it is my pcv valve's check valve moving under the escaping crankcase pressures. It is normal for an engine with high miles , if you want to eliminate the noise rebuild the engine.
