hey guys... i have a 1985 f 150 4x4 with a 300 six in it. when i crank it it over it draws very hard on the battery. almost to the point that the cab lights almost go out. what would cause this???
I had this same problem, only worse, with my 86 F-350 460 4x4. It drained the battery, but not before it melted the grounding wire from the negative post to the body, valiantly trying to start.
Turns out there was some corrosion inside the battery cable connector where it hooks to the negative terminal on the battery, and the other end of the cable wasn't making very good contact with the starter. Cleaned 'em up, put in a new ground wire, and all is fine now.
