Done for today. Hood sucked to do by myself. Inner fenders are pretty toasted where the hinges sit. The fender bolts gave me some trouble. I will try to post an updated video soon of the work done. Well no actual work just dismantling.
hoping to have the rest of the front removed tomorrow.
My first time using por15. Figured I would tackle the used hangers I got. I am impressed how well just the first coat came out.
also got my other 2 LED shop light hooked up. Really light up my little garage.
Well that was fun. Pushed truck out. Used my jack as a dolly about 50 times and got the truck spun around. Pushed back in garage. Cab comes off tomorrow.
its amazing how simple these old trucks are. Nothing like my most recent 05 and newer VW's.
Took the cab off myself today. Ratchet straps to the beam in my garage. Had to yank the front springs, remove the rear wheels and drag it out on the drums.
cab will go outside and get wrapped. Chassis will get put in the garage so I can start cleaning it.
I just finished my 81 F100 flare side I did cab off frame rebuild and like you all by myself, only took me 4 years.
I used the rafters and straps a lot mostly putting back together and painting the bed sides.
I did not have to do the cab mounts but floors, rockers, part of the rear door jambs & cab corners and the lower inner & outer left door.
I will let you know first test drive did not go well.
Lost brakes and as I was pulling in the drive the clutch linkage broke a pivot again that you can not get.
where it stopped in the yard broken 2 weeks ago.
I did fix the clutch and drove it 70 miles for a show last weekend, still need to look into the brakes hope just a good bleeding to fix.
Stick to it and before you know it yours will start looking like a truck again.
BTW the frame cab mounts find large washers to weld to them or weld a plate and drill a hole thru it for the cab bolts.
IIRC Jeff Bronco Graveyard sells radiator frame support repair kit that is basicly large washers that may work for you too.
Good luck

Motor and transmission should be coming out today. Last night I got the t-case out. And unbolted the transmission from the mount. Have to pick up the engine hoist after work. I found my old engine lift plate that bolts onto the manifold but am kinda nervous about it. I used it once when I put a new 350 motor in the 72 nova I had and it work fine. That was just a motor hanging of it though. This will be motor and transmission.
I made a horrible mess getting the transmission and tcase out. Motor did not come out yet. Have to remove the converter still. Had to push it out and scrub my floor. Maybe Sunday the motor gets its wings. And yeah I had a brain fart on unbolting the converter.
Out. Now to clean my floor again. Roll it outside and hit it all with the pressure washer. Still a lot of gunk on it. Engine is fairly clean inside. Heads have a lot of carbon build up. Just going to clean the engine up, gasket overhaul, timing set, carb rebuild and be done with it. It ran fine as is.
You are getting there Brother! I am so glad I live out west we don't have near the troubles with rust. I don't think I have ever seen a frame that rusted. But march on it can't get any worse only better, and so far your doing an awesome job!
Pulled the steering box off and removed the trackbar bracket. Was actually surprised to see the frame wasnt cracked like a mirror. Looks like an easy fix. Might have my brother do it as I dont have the experience.
