I have 2 solenoids. 1 is unhooked from the battery. I think it might be causing problems with my alternator charging the battery.
I know for one solenoid the battery pos terminal goes on the left (facing solenoid) and starter goes on right. Ignition goes to "I" terminal. What is hooked up to the "S" terminal?
The wire to the S terminal is the one that activates the solenoid when you enguage the starter. The other solenoid was probably for a camper. It would isolate the camper battery when the engine isn't running so you don't drain the other battery when you are camping.
Both solenoids are hooked up. One has the battery + cable, the other side has the wire to the starter, then there's the ignition wire, and something hooked up to the S terminal that I can only trace so far
The other solenoid is set up exactly the opposite. There's a wire connected to the battery + terminal, a wire going off the opposite side, a cross connect from the S term to the I term on the othere.
