Ya all know that there are days that I can't do much but sit in front of this idiot box and harrass ya'll. Give me the specifics below and I'll try and figure this out.

What type Pump are you running (Year, make)
What steering box/rack (year/make)
anyone else - let me know the above info.

That would be great. A good start would be to find out some more PS pump pressures specs for the various combos. These would provide a good reference that covers most of us. If you crack this, you are going to find the smae pumps were usued for many applications. There aren't 11,000 different pump pressures to contend with for Ford or GM pump.
On the PS pump end
1. Late 70s to early 80s fullsize Ford ie LTD with 302/351. (fenders)
2. Late eighties to early 90s Mustangs with 5.0 (others members)
3. Late 70s GM midsize (Camaro, Nova etc) (Vern donor??)
On the steering box end,
1. A 76-80 Volare, 80 Cordoba and an 87 Fifth Ave for example. All these boxes look identical. We are assuming they require the same pressure.
2. Also a 76 Cordoba to see if it is the same for the Gibbon's guys.
Vern,
Your no-problem approach is going to be to adapt the Mopar pump. I know the GM has pretty high pressure. Perhaps Dick can help us figure out just how high.

I found it quite easy to adapt the Mopar (87 5th Avenue) PS pump to my non-Ford engine. I would think it would be better moving in that direction rather than trying to use mismatched components. I have no idea on the Ford PS pump fittings. You will probable have to have one custom made. I am able to use the stock Mopar hose on my truck.

Dewayne, I think you read my mind. I've been thinking about that old thread a lot lately also. I have a Ford Granada PS pump (late 80s) and a 78 Dodge Aspen steering box. It is way easy to steer and a maybe a little too sensitive. (It cries if I call it a name) But seriously, I hope this thread can produce a good resolve. Penn Dick, if you could please include mine in your long list I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks, John

Perhaps to a degree they are soft steering. But old stock Mopars steer no where near as easy as my Volare/F100 does with a little too much pump pressure.
