Just about to get my 1965 with a 390 cid going. Headers. 4 barrel Edlebrock. Looking for a mellow sound with performance. Flow Masters are a little to rich for my wallet. Turbos are too loud and harsh. Thanks for any input.
Wrap the headers top to bottom will help with sound and keep the engine bay cooler. Magna Flow and Flowmasters makes many levels of flow. The more you restrict the less sound. Run the pipes out the rear.
Just had my exhaust done. Reused same mufflers since only 2-1/2 yrs old. I'm cheap. Went with Flowsound. Forget the exact model # but half the price of flowmaster 40s. Sound great.
Bought some SSteel 2.5” mufflers the Flow-master series 10 knock offs I think they are off eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/PAIR-of-Sin...72.m2749.l2649
Mocking it up and seeing what else I need.
Not running a cross over.
Ran both down the PSide to keep the DSide freed up (might put an aux tank there from my ‘97F150.
Pipe and parts from O'Reilly.
Now to fit and finish, then weld everything up.
I just watched an Engine Masters where they tested mufflers under $40. They tested different brands of straight through, chambered and turbo mufflers on the dyno. They rated them for sound, DB's, and horsepower and torque. Good information.
