Just received this picture from a friend who wants to sell the truck to me. Any idea what this is that has broken off and the cost to repair? Thank you!
That appears to be the front driveshaft, and expect to pay about $1000+ to make things right there if you have to take it to a dealer. Many times when a shaft like that breaks, other components are damaged.
Then there is the question of how did this happen?
And what else is wrong with the truck?
Funny how the eye is sometimes drawn to the blood and gore and away from the important things.....

Reason: See post 4.

Not a front shaft unles he has duals on the front!!
Deleted truck, dealer advertising license tags, Lariat base or value package, someone swapped an XL bumper on it, and it has bald tires.
Looks like with the delete they shut off some other traction control stuff or someone pulled some fuses. Only time I’ve seen carnage like that is when doing a tug-o-war. Probably an extended test drive or employees drinking a few too many and having fun at the boss’s expense. I would carfax to see if it was stolen.
Good looking truck though. Probably will sell for too much.

I've been trying to figure that out. At face value, the post doesn't violate any FTE rules. On the other hand, how was JoeT able to find out so much about the actual truck? I assumed it was because JoeT stated that he has an account at Copart. But how, based solely on this one photograph, was JoeT able to find, out of millions of broken down vehicles that Copart cannibalizes, this exact truck? So I looked over the OP's post, wondering if it ultimately was an advertisement in disguise, which IS against FTE rules... but unless or until I, acting as an FTE member, could track back to where the truck is for sale from solely the information provided in the original post, without benefit of any subscriptions to another service, then the post stays, as it appears within bounds... even though I too, have a similarly funny feeling about the original post.
Pretty bizarre first post to be sure. But some good observations have been posted here. It wouldn't be a truck for me unless it was free with a clear title.

His user name points me to a close area. The truck is in Baton Rouge.
Easy red dually. There is a good bit on copart but not a ton.
Ive rebuilt a couple salvage trucks. Newer Fords.
Guarantee some wires and misc was damaged when the driveshaft popped.
