I took my 99' Ranger 4x4 3.0L 90k in to the local transmission place since about once every couple of months, my O/D light blinks and it seems as though the transmission is stuck in 3rd. They said this is when the system is storing codes. It really doesn't shift that bad. Once in a while it will slip a bit between 2nd and 3rd, but not very often. The codes he gave me were P0732 and P1756, niether of which I can find info anywhere on. They want $398 to tear the thing apart and tell me what's wrong. Can some one help me out here. I don't really trust a lot of transmission guys. My regular check engine light is not on. Do they read these codes from the same jack under the steering wheel or are these read from someplace else? I would rather trade the truck in then spend a ton of money on fixing it.

My ford manual doesn't list a code 732, it does list 723 as the OSS. The 1756 is a shift solenoid or internal parts, all you have to do is drop the pan to run these tests.
