I found this random wire hanging down next to my oil pan on my truck and I can't figure out where it goes or what it is for. Does anyone know what it is? My truck is an 86 supercab 6.9 c6 trans 4x4.

Oh okay was many problems with the stock heater in 86? And i probably won't be needing it anyway living up here in North Georgia.
Iirc the block casting was too thin/not strong enough and using the block heater would result in the block cracking around the heater and leaking coolant.

ya depends on the engine SN if it had that issue... just as 90Ford73 said... and yeah I doubt you need it in Georgia... IF you must have one I think the better option is in the lower RAD Hose... they also make Dipstick Heaters to keep the oil warm...you folks do get some good freezes but a blanket over the front end in your case is plenty fine..... Garage is always best
Wow...so, that is what the underside of one of these trucks is supposed to look like!
What's next from Georgia...an un-rusted rear fender?
Roy
I bought the truck in California a month before my wife and I moved back home to Georgia. And thank God we left... This Georgia boy didn't belong there ha
Anybody know where I can find one of those connectors? The wires were pulled right out so I've got the orange rubber connector, but no ability to rewire it.
