Hey everyone thanks for having me. I do however have a problem..I have a 1986 F-150 XLT lariat. I remove the fuel injection system I replaced it with a carburetor system. There's a 302 5.0 liter engine. I had to remove the inline fuel pump and disconnect in tank fuel pump. I ran lines from the bottom of the in tank fuel pump into the gas tank and put a filter on the end. My problem is even after putting in electric fuel pump under the hood which runs about 6 pounds of pressure, and putting on a new carburetor, it will start but will not stay running. After sitting for awhile it will start again and run for a couple minutes, and then we'll die I will have to go through the same procedure over again. Is there any kind of answer for this is anybody know? Now my return fuel line is not hooked up is it need to be plugged up? And do I still need my O2 sensor hooked up? I still am running the electronic ignition but eventually we'll go to a points distributor. I'm at my wit's end. Help
Steve, welcome to FTE.
First we need to know is it fuel or spark related so we know what path to go down.
Next time check if the carb is getting fuel by pulling the air filter, motor off, choke open look down the carb and move the throttle do you see gas squirting?
Pull a plug wire and install an old plug and ground it to the motor. Now crank it over do you see spark and what color is it?
Let us know what you find.

Just went through a similar issue on my 1986 F150. It is a 300 I6 truck, and I had to rebuild the carburetor after a lot of fuel issues. I had the same symptoms as you are experiencing, and I ended up taking the carburetor back apart to check a few things. I had forgotten to put the check ball back in the carb. It sounds stupid, I know, but if you rebuilt the carburetor, you might want to check.
