Pulled the ECM/Computer to check the capacitor. On removing the connector to the ECM, one of the pins came out, see photo. Tried to see about a new/refurbish on but ran into a problem finding the OM/OEM numbers. I did find numbers on the PC board, but can not find a match online or at the auto parts store. I have attached Photos of the module. Any help on finding the correct ECM to get (pre-programmed) or find the correct OM numbers.
The number on the board is E7TF-14A608-CD, only parts I can find for the year and engine (87m 5.0L/302) are E7TF-12xxxx-xx.
Those engineering numbers are generic for every PCM Ford manufactured for these trucks. You need the "catch codes" listed on the sticker attached to the case cover. I see "REMFG" in one of the photos which means someone previously has replaced the PCM. Another photo shows 4446 etched into the connector so I would guess you have a Cardone 78-4446 PCM installed, Ford Part# E7TF-AUA/AUB
I also see signs of water intrusion. Before installing a replacement check the cowl seals for signs of leaking.
As stated before your current PCM is a remanufactured Cardone brand with Part# 78-4446. It is listed to fit your 1987 F150 w/5L engine, auto transmission and Federal Emissions. Cardone 78-4446
Is it an exact fit? hard to tell without the calibration code from the door jamb. Is it compatible, yes it is.

Thanks again. Looking at the parts dealer site, it has:
Remanufactured; Automatic Transmission; ID Number: E7TF-AUA, AUB; Flash Technology Unit Pre-Programmed At The Factory; Correct VIN And OE Number Required When Ordering; With Federal Emissions
The OE number is what bothering me and need to find. Not sure if they can/will order it without it.
To be honest those aftermarket folks have no clue what the Calibration code is by the VIN. Why they ask for it (VIN) is beyond me other than verifying what the engine was from the factory. The OE Part Number is going to be E7TF-12A650-AUA or E7TF-12A650-AUB. Pick the latter since it most likely supersedes AUA.
If you order from RockAuto, a site sponsor, I do not believe they make you go through these stupid human tricks. If you go this route look for a discount code at the Vendor forum at this site....
Another caveat here is the sporadic QC demonstrated time again by the folks at Cardone. You may get a good replacement, you may not. Not very many suppliers anymore.
I have the ECM/PCM ordered. Need to find these two parts. One is the rubber seal that goes on the end of the ECM/PCM the other is the holding bracket. The bracket is is behind the driver kick guard. On my model, I pull the ECM/PCM out from the cab. Have seen where some are held in by two 10mm bolts and pull out from the engine compartment.
