Just Griping

Just griping, in the process of changing the shock tower for a quad shock set up on '93 F150 4x4. Well, got the old one off and was cleaning up the frame with a wire wheel and noticed the crusty nature of the brake lines going to the switch mounted on the top of the frame rail just to the rear of the shock tower. I said, "better be careful not to hit them", too late, I must have as there was soon a wet spot under the one that runs down around the other side of the frame to the next device. This was all on me. However, after I got back from town with a new length of 3/16" line and bent it all up masterfully, and tried to install it, I then discovered one end had a metric fitting on it. I was able to reuse the old one but it made me say pickles a couple of times. First time for me with S.A.E. on one end and metric on the other! Thanks Henry!

Yeah, I feel your pain. I needed to replace the hoses, but as soon as I touched the fitting the line started leaking. I decided to order new stainless lines for the front

It's always an adventure with this gen since you can't always see letters/numbers or lines on the head of a bolt in the most tortuous of positions.

Whatever it is, it ain't what's in your hand or within reach.

I replaced the bearings, rotor/hubs and calipers, and all new rear brake parts on my 93, then when bleeding the shiny new install, the front brake line blew apart where the flexible line and steel line met on the frame. Fun times.

I'm doing body mounts right now. Under the cab. 5/8ths head & 7/8ths nuts on 7/16th bolts.

Rad support.... 18mm nuts & 15mm heads on a 13mm bolt.

Yup and back then they had the only 18mm nuts in the industry and just try and find a socket or wrench....... All your tool trucks/vendors/parts stores carried metric sockets and sets, - the 18 and 16. Larry

I did the front two pair of body mounts before I started on the shock tower. That three inch pipe and a piece of flat stock for a puller trick make the job much easier on the second pair.

I've got a 5-6 inch square plate 1/4" thick with hole in center that has been used for multiple pulling/compressing/backing tool uses.

I "T"ed it with a hunk of angle & used a long bolt from the back cab as a puller on # 2 & #3.

The rad support bolts were 100% fused into the sleeves I said screw it & ground the heads off.

Then I sawed the rubber "hex" away till it pulled free.
