2001 F250 Lariat with captains chairs in front. I just need a seat cover for the bottom portion of the seat (not the whole thing)- I am unable to find if anyone can assist. The bottom is the only part that is ripped
I have 2013 F250 with the 40-20-40 front seats. I need to replace the bottom driver's seat cover - part number CC3Z 2562901 BB. From what I have seen on various internet videos, SuperDuty seat covers may be secured to the cushion using hog rings, velcro strips, or a plastic spline that snaps into clips that are built into the cushion. I don't know what type of attachment my seats use - if it's the velcro or plastic spline I don't need to buy anything to install the cover but, if it's the hog rings then I need to get some of those and a ring pliers/crimper.
I'd have to remove and dismantle the seat to determine how my seat cover is secured and the dealer's parts department didn't have any covers in stock so they couldn't say which type of attachment is used.
Does anyone with a 2013 SD know if the hog rings are being used to secure the front seat covers? Thanx.
Not knowing how my cover was fastened on my 2001,I bought a set of hog ring pliers from harbor freight. I didn't need them as they were fastened with plastic splines. To answer your question about 2013,I dont know. Keep us updated as I have a 2012 to replace soon.
Look behind the seat, you should be able to tell if there are hog rings in the seat bottom in the back, You can ad hog rings in the plastic tracks if you want more holding power, essentially having hog rings and tracks, as long as you can't see them, re-skinning a seat back or bottom is a lot easier than you think, after you do a few it is fun, the hard part is getting the seat out of the truck to work on it, one trick I do is after I take the seat mount bolts out, I tape up the seat brackets where the mounting bolts went through, this keeps me from scratching the door sill or any other thing when the seat comes in and out, hog rings are cheap so have lots of them on hand and don't be afraid to cut them off and start over, once the new seat skin is installed, your truck looks a 100% nicer inside, and a new skin looks like the factory seat, especially if you get them from Ford. You can order Hog ring pliers and hog rings on ebay or amazon, local perts places also. Some of the newer seats have air bags in them, these are harder to deal with, a factory replacement for those should be the best choice.
Thanks for the tip on taping/padding the seat brackets. Now that I think about it, I remember that a seat that I had to remove from our old Mercury Mountaineer ended up scraping and scratching the doorway trim.
