White Platinum Tri Coat Camper Shell
#16
I've been look for a used one... how far back can I go and still fit a 2019?
Thanks for the info on paint matching, I hadn't thought of that while we search for the right truck. Right now I want Spruce or Stone Grey, Red as a third choice. Just don't want a white or black... there are probably 10 black Superduty's in our hood.

One more thing. Im not sure where you live, but here in texas solvent based systems still rule the roost. If you live somewhere where all they use are water born, color match is out the window. Not a big fan of the water colors. I know some guys love them, but personally i think they suck. Easier to color match dead panel jobs with solvent paints.

Here is a pic of mine getting installed and you can see how the lighting makes all the different panels look different. It's a SnugTop Rebel model and I don't think it's a perfect match but it is a real good quality topper. I doubted it would be a perfect match because of this fancy tri-coat pearl color, but it doesn't bother me because this isn't a show truck.

I got a cap from LEER for my last truck, It wasnt Tri Coat but I still remember talked to the shop installing/ordering the shell. When he asked what color he said, " its not that tri coat white is it?". It wasn't but I asked him why. He said it took LEER 4 tries to get it matched correctly. It was half a year process. They kept painting the same cap to get a match.

I spray solvent over oem water finish all of the time. Ive been in the the body business 20 years. Dealership body shops are no different than any other collision center. If a shop uses water it is either because A. They are required to due to state or local law or B. They are required to due to state or local law. Its expensive, and the cost to retrofit the booth with forced air is cost prohibitive.

ARE Z Series Magnetic Grey
I couldn't ask for a better color match. I had the same model cap on a '11 F150 in Platinum White and the color was off. Cap was too light.
