You guys are gonna hate me. I'm brand new to forums. Only ever read them, never signed up or posted! Not sure how this all works but here's a quick intro. I drive a 1995 Mazda B2300. Almost did a 5.0L swap into it, but then decided getting married was a better idea so I ended up selling all parts and such. Today I had a ****ty idea... my wife has a 2005 Escape. It's at 260,000 kms.. Sooooo almost time for an engine. She loves it and I can't talk her into getting rid of it. Anyone here know or any 5.0L swaps into these gen escapes? Maybe a 302 from the older explorers? I know it can be done, because anything can be done with a torch and a big enough hammer. My real question is can anyone point me in the direction of someone who has done this swap or one similar? As part of my intro I'll post a transformation truck of my Deranger.
I've never heard of anyone doing this swap ever. I suspect that this is because the Escape's engine bay is barely big enough for a 60-degree V6, let alone a 90-degree V8 with double the displacement. Then there's the weight, the passenger experience, and the driveline orientation..
