Looking to purchase a 2019 F150 & I'm deciding between the XL & Raptor. I know they are both ends of the spectrum however I'm looking at it both from a daily driver standpoint & possible to develop parts off of.
What are you guys seeing issues with on these trucks (or wanting to improve) & which would you go with. Both models I'm looking at are at local dealerships and the XL is half of the price of the Raptor.
What would you do and which should I consider knowing this will also be used for R&D purposes?
In my opinion, Raptors are relatively rare and are set up excellent from the factory. What that would mean to you as a product developer is that the potential customer base would be small.
The XL offers much more potential for modification. The numbers of regular F150s far and away outnumber Raptors. There your sales would be greater and return on RnD would happen quicker.
+1. XLs probably outnumber Raptors by about 200:1 (that's a SWAG, I did not count them). With that kind of ratio, and the fact that the XL guys are going to want to pimp their ride a bit more, I'm thinking that would be the better target audience. The Raptor comes pre-pimped.

First up would definitely be a diff lock mod.
Thank you all.
Are these used or new vehicles.
The Raptor is pretty much maxed out from the factory so a XL or XLT would be the best starting point for a r&d vehicle.
If you’re looking for a development vehicle, why not go used and look at a 2018 vehicle.
Believe it or not, some dealers still have a few new 2018 F150’s on their lot.
