Question chip install, now a mod?

Installed a chip in my 2.5L 99 Ranger and the chip extended quite a bit aft of the computer. Now, when I put the computer back in, a plastic strip prevents the computer from going all the way back in. I have about an inch gap. 2 questions, is the gap going to be bad for me and if it is how can I modify or remove the strip in the back.

Thanks
King

If you have the SuperChip cut the plastic tab off just behind the chip. This will not cause any problems.
You do not want your truck computer sticking into the engine compartment. If for some crazy reason water was to enter the computer that would be one expensive replacement part.

I had the SuperChip but switched to the Diablo which doesn't stick out.

Good Luck

Thanks for the advice, I didn't think about water getting in. I just have to figure out how to get my hands in and remove the plastic.

How much of a difference does that chip make on your 2.5L. Power, mpg, etc...

Use a pair if plyers to break the tab off. Worked great for me.
Good luck.
