My 2016 F250 FX4 6.2l was purchased with the idea of using it for emergency response, such as with the impending Hurricane Dorian (typically for recovery response). I have a few ideas on modifications that would make it more useful, but wanted to see if there are additional thoughts on the issue. I've installed a 12k winch, front wide-angle lights, hard cover lockable bed with toolbox, locking tailgate (these two are for security of the equipment in affected areas). I'm going to be installing an onboard air system, rear lights and probably a bar light on the front.
A friend has purchased the Atomic game-changer flash kit, and I'll evaluate that this week.
I had considered a bed cap, but other uses prohibited that (which is why I went with the cover).
I have a portable generator, and will be getting an auxiliary gas tank for the bed. A colleague has a trailer we've outfitted with room for the saws, fuel and such already. I'll be pulling that or a trailer with a mini-ex or a bobcat.
BTW, any of our responses are coordinated through the SBDR (we are trained and qualified).
Start your focus on the survivability of the truck first, if it dies so does any opportunity for emergency response. Determine the maximum height of water you can go through. Extend the breather tubes on diffs, transmission etc to above engine height. Waterproof any electrical connections that might see water intrusion.
