71 camper special

Hi there.
Just wondering if a 71 camper special could handle a 7135 g.v.w.r fifth wheel?

If it has solid frame, good suspension, good brakes, good tires, solid driveline, is at least an F250 and has an engine making over 350 lb ft of torque then yes. Won't likely find a tow rating for it though. And you'll have to wire up a proper trailer harness including brake controller.

That's a fairly light fiver.

I think the Camper Special was set up for slide ins.

Spec's for the camper special

Stock 360 rebuilt brakes and carburetor.

Add to that everything else from bumper to bumper...brake hoses, master cylinder, king pins, I-beam and radius arm bushings, front and rear springs, tranny and engine rebuilt, etc ...everything in top shape.

Will also want a 4.10 rear axle ratio.

I pulled our 5ton fiver 10k miles of interstate with my '65 F250 after it was completely rebuilt and added a stock 390. Now we mostly use a 2002 diesel.
